actually they are destroying an important marine eco-system that lives on the floating plastic. Because of deforestation,dams, etc there is a lot less non-plastic floating objects in our oceans. This sort of habitat is vital for small creatures that live around and on floating objects in the sea, The thing to do is to stop the plastic before it gets into the Ocean by banning one use plastic containers.
